Department of Interior
Partners in Conservation Award

On May 7, 2009, Department of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar presented the “Casting Light Upon the Waters” Committee with a Partners in Conservation Award for their work in protecting fishery resources and reducing user conflicts in Wisconsin. It was one of 26 national awards to individuals and organizations presented at a ceremony at Interior headquarters in Washington, D.C. to honor “those who achieve natural resource goals in collaboration and partnership with others.”

The Great Lakes Regional Collaboration was named as one of the award recipients because of its support for boater education on preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species under the GLRC's Clean Boats Every Day initiative at the Casting Light Upon the Waters  Committee's Partners Fishing Event on June 12, 2008.
